Call of Duty Vanguard a stunningly realized WWII
Call of Duty Vanguard is finally through the annual spotlight as Sledgehammer Games pivots the FPS franchise back again to a stunningly realized WWII with an increase of bells and whistles attached to it than ever before. At launch (and there's a lot of "at at launch" concerning Vanguard's Zombies mode it has only three kinds of objectives. The campaign is filled with epic (and some shocking) moments multiplayer is enjoyable and quick, and comes with 16 maps (twice because of the previous Call of the Duty video game) with a lot of different modes and evolution features as well as the brand new zombies mode is incredibly enjoyable.
If you are worried about picking up this console game for yourself because you're a person who wasn't a fan of the switch from the Modern Warfare engine of 2019 to Treyarch's Cold War, then you'll be very happy to learn that it runs using Modern Warfare's engine. Additionally, the gunplay and graphics are completely intact. As a large Call of Duty 6v6 player, I'm looking forward to moving on the console game from Black Ops Cold War to Vanguard and it's not yet blown me completely. Clearly among the best PS5 FPS games of the year. Vanguard stays with the tried and true approach that transformed Call of Duty right into a popular culture phenomenon a few years back while stifling any new ideas.
Call of Duty: Vanguard's campaign does meet and exceed all expectations, however, multiplayer and Zombies take on the burden to bring the game to a good place. At the time of launch, it includes a brand new game mode titled "Der Anfang" that combines elements of survival-style gameplay based on round numbers and the objective-based gameplay of Outbreak and Onslaught. The mode is known as an expansion of the Dark Aether narrative and serves as a prelude to Black Ops Cold War's journey. Even failing at "showing World Wart 2 like no time before", Call of Duty Vanguard is a great FPS. I need certainly to say it's a single-player console game that was just long enough for me and plays out well as kind of a film story, but you are the character in the story. We place Vanguard on the list of the top PS5 shooting games for a reason - its amazing multiplayer gameplay. Vanguard's campaign is weak, but multiplayer and zombies make it a winner. The complete removal of "sides" during multiplayer games is a bit odd and causes frustration, especially when it is supposed to be set in the conflict against the most evidently wicked regime in the history of modern times.
Call Of Duty: Vanguard's campaign has its moments, but ultimately it's a bit boring. Black Ops Cold War features an evolving story and key decisions that lead to different endings. Within my all-too-brief time with Call of Duty: Vanguard in front of the launch I was able to play matches in Blitz or Tactical Combat Pacing. Vanguard's multiplayer options are not without charms: I adore having the ability to spend hours playing with my top guns to obtain the top-level skins and accessories so people are able to see how cool I am when I shoot these guns, and I'm thrilled to see this return to Vanguard.
