A Different Kind of Soulslike Game

As with other Soulslike titles, Remnant: From the Ashes is currently balanced when it comes to volume levels; just make sure that footsteps stand out among gunfire! Since mastering bosses is time-consuming and takes practice. Once your character's Primary, Secondary, and Melee weapons have been optimized (check our other guides and articles, like this Remnant 1 and 2 Boss Fights Comparison), feel free to share any insights you gain; once done be sure to let Sebum know of any difficulties early on so he may help guide your journey! The game requires equipment upgrades to overcome challenges so anticipate any difficulty early on while making an alliance pact with Sebum!

Bosses Are Varied and Difficult to Beat

Bosses in this game all look incredible and provide quite the challenge, from doorway or wall of fog entrances to being met by 100 times larger monsters than you. Walking into an area and coming face-to-face with them never tires you out! Encountering the depth and satisfaction of predicting attacks unscathed in Remnant's boss fights, the decision to buy Remnant: From the Ashes feels like an inevitable step toward embracing the pinnacle of gaming excellence. Every time I encountered a new boss, it gave me that familiar feeling: "Oh no!" For me, part of the fun in working under them was paying close attention so you could learn his or her patterns; more often than not I found myself running for dear life before getting my gameplan together.

Some Issues

Unfortunately, that's where one of the major flaws arises. This game was clearly designed with co-op in mind and its boss fights are meant to be taken down by multiple players at once. That presents its own set of difficulties. When playing alone the difficulty in boss fights is often compounded by minions from your enemy that band together against you and melee you to death in one shot - often known as glass cannon enemies. Ammo providers never seem to stop appearing and you might just end up taking out several at once, only for more to appear shortly thereafter and rush you down with each attack - often leaving me desperately trying to recover health quickly without success, while these enemies rush you down quickly enough that I feel my deaths were cheap!

Conclusion

Remnant: From the Ashes was an unexpected delight of 2019 for me. This incredible game presents an immense challenge while maintaining its sense of fairness (where most Soulslike games feel unfair); any failure lies solely on players for not understanding enemy patterns and dodging carefully enough, leading them directly into defeat and ensuring a rapid learning curve...to me, this seems fair. Seeking immersive storytelling and stunning graphics? It's time to explore and buy PS5 games that redefine the gaming landscape, and Remnant games are a step forward for Soulslike games. While its storyline and solo boss battles may lack spark, Remnant offers exhilarating combat, engaging cooperative play, captivating locales, compelling cooperative challenges, and diversity to keep me playing for hours on end!
