Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One a huge story-driven game with familiar characters
Sherlock Holmes: Chapter One seems to be the culmination of the developer Frogwares' goals to continue its legendary investigation series and, simultaneously, its strangest entry. The most basic explanation for Sherlock Holmes Chapter One is it's a videogame in which you embody the young consulting detective aged 21. He returns to Cordona, the Mediterranean island where he spent time as a youngster. And he has to solve crimes. The systems for uncovering the hints to solve crimes and solving them are fantastic and make Sherlock Holmes Chapter One by Frogwares the best game title in its category and one of the top PS5 adventure games in recent years.
Free of the traditions that accompany a Sherlock Holmes adventure, Chapter One gets to be better, even if sometimes takes quite silly turns, and manages to bring to the players an adventure game that remains authentic to the series and the science fiction genre. It is one of the new PS5 games, however you will not see any difference between PS4 and PS5, mostly because the game is not graphically demanding. The task of pinpointing what occurred within the confines of Stonewood Manor turns out to be the focal point of Chapter One's narrative. However, dealing with this central mystery requires solving the 12 hours-long series of intriguing and diverse adventures, from tracking down an elephant in a stampede to snooping to a sex cult. Some of them are resolved in surprising and sometimes hilarious ways.
Much like the young investigator, Chapter One is imperfect and occasionally awkward, yet I still found myself dangling in its crook, eager to get more murders. For the franchise that, at least for the past couple of video game titles, is pushing the concept of brain castles and creating cerebral crime scenes, the theory that Sherlock might also have a companion to aid him in navigating the world is not that big of a leap. But I have to say that it is a game that it is not made for everyone. You have to be at least a buff of Sherlock Holmes in general. When you are looking to buy cheap PS5 games, most probably you will notice this game. If you want puzzles and mysteries, Sherlock Holmes Chapter One will be a nice choice. It has plenty of content that will provide you with a lot brain teasers in your way of solving the crimes.
There's a playfulness to Chapter One that balances out the somber nature of Sherlock Holmes' work, both in characters as well as the jokes that Frogwares has snuck into easy-to-overlook things, like innocuous items and disguise descriptions. The best cases, needless to say, are those that have bamboozlers send you around the metropolis to study legal documents, interview suspects, solve puzzles and do a spot of chemical analysis but, if you are craving that hit from an investigation that has put another mystery to rest it's possible to just head into space, look at the scene and say "That guy did it."
